KNDS REPORTS ANOTHER YEAR OF GROWTH

The defence technology group KNDS, in which Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (Germany) and Nexter (France) merged to form the leading European enterprise for military land systems, ammunition and related services, has continued its growth in fiscal year 2022.
Incoming orders at KNDS increased by 21 percent compared to the previous year to a total of EUR 3.4 billion, while the company’s order backlog rose to EUR 11 billion. The bulk of the incoming orders came in the second half of the financial year. Highlights include the orders under the French Scorpion programme, unwaveringly strong ammunition sales, the procurement of an additional 100 8x8 BOXER wheeled vehicles by the United Kingdom and the order for the delivery of 18 RCH 155 artillery systems by Ukraine.
KNDS’ turnover in the 2022 financial year was EUR 3.2 billion, 19 percent above the previous year’s figure. It was primarily driven by the ammunition business, continuous deliveries for the Scorpion programme in France, the equipping of Hungarian combat forces with the LEOPARD 2 and the PzH 2000 armoured howitzer, as well as growing revenues in Service and Support. In fiscal year 2022, KNDS’ workforce grew to 8,952.

KNDS (KMW+NEXTER Defense Systems) arose from the merger of Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and Nexter, two of the leading European manufacturers of military land systems, based in Germany and France. KNDS forms a Group of around 9,000 employees, with a 2022 turnover of 3.2 billion euro, an order backlog of around 11 billion euro and incoming orders of 3.4 billion euro. The range of its products includes main battle tanks, armored vehicles, artillery systems, weapons systems, ammu-nition, military bridges, customer services, battle management systems, training solutions, protection solutions and a wide range of equipment. The formation of KNDS marks the beginning of the consolidation of the industry for military land systems in Europe. The strategic alliance between KMW and Nexter strengthens the competitiveness and international position of both companies as well as their ability to meet the requirements of the armies of their respective nations. In addition, this alliance gives its European and NATO customers a reliable industrial base to increasingly standardise and align their defence technology with each other. KNDS headquarters are based in Amsterdam.
